Holly Wasserfall is a singer, songwriter as well as vocalist born on 27 December 1995, in KwaZulu Natal, Durban, South Africa. She is a celebrated artist who is known by her stage name “Holly Rey”. Holly Rey Debut, Releases & Career Highlights Holly Rey did her primary and secondary studies from KwaZulu Natal. As a kid, she grew up in a family of musicians as well as percussionists, so she was exposed to music at a very tender age. The eldest uncle of her used to play instruments for her when she visited, therefore the interest in music was developed in her. Later on, she learned to play the guitar as well as drums. Holly’s uncle who was a writer and music reviewer helped her in composing music until she started recording. Her talent was discovered at an early age when she got signed to a recording deal with Sony ATV at the age of just 13. Later, she released her debut album which was titled ‘Strawberry Skies’ in the year 2010 which became a big-time favorite amongst teens. The album became so popular that it brought her into the limelight and gained her a huge fanbase. In 2019, Holly Rey did her graduation from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, with an Honors degree in Media and Communication Cum Laude. After the success of her debut album, she released her three-tracked EP and a single track titled ‘Bang Bang’. In 2017, she dropped her second album which she titled ‘Vanilla House’. Holly Rey eventually got the much-deserving fa when she dropped her hit titled ‘Deeper’ which was produced by “Mondli Ngcobo”. This hit track made her the first woman to win Record of the Year at the SAMAs in 20 years at the 25th edition as Brenda Fassie was the last woman to win the prestigious award. She has also worked with artists from other countries such as Mozambique, Senegal, Congo, and Nigeria. In the year 2020, Holly Rey also released an album which features her latest track ‘Wanna Be’.
