Bonginkosi Dlamini was born on 24 April 1977 and grew up in Zola, a township of Soweto, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa which is commonly known for its high crime rate in South Africa. Dlamini is popular with the stage name Zola, which he adopted from the city where he spent his whole childhood. Zola got into the spotlight after he played a role as the notorious gangster “Papa Action” in the second season of the television series “Yizo Yizo”, which also got famous. This gave him a huge success with an enormous fan base and lots of following across the country. Later on, Zola did two movies Drum and Tsotsi in the years 2004 and 2005 respectively which helped in achieving his first Academy Award. Before that, he also did roles in documentaries like SHARP!
