Tamia Marilyn Washington Hill is a Canadian multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer, and actress, the artist is popularly known by her first name Tamia. She was born on May 9, 1975, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and raised there only. Tamia was the only daughter of a white father and black mother; she has three younger brothers named Tiras, Tajhee, and Trajan. At the tender age of six, she used to perform on the stage where she sang at the local church, and by age 12, she had already been involved in several musical events which helped hone her musical skills. Tamia’s Debut, Collaborations & Popular Singles In her childhood, Tamia used to perform in various singing and dancing competitions. After signing a single track deal with Warner Bros. Records, in the year 1994, she was asked by veteran producer Quincy Jones to appear on his album Q's Jook Joint in 1995. In 1999, Tamia did a collaboration with American singer Eric Benét on his single track "Spend My Life with You". Due to hard work, and appreciated talent the song ranked at the top of Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and merited her with a fourth Grammy Award nomination as well as the NAACP Image Award for the Outstanding Song. In 1998, Tamia released her self-titled debut album which was followed by a list of thriving albums with Elektra Records, including A Nu Day (2000) and More (2004). Numerous songs from her albums were recognised as the smashing singles on the pop and R&B record charts, "So Into You", "Stranger in My House" and "Imagination" are some of them. Tamia plays genres like R&B, Soul, Pop, Urban Contemporary, Hip-Hop Soul as well as Gospel, She has also been connected with popular artists in the industry such as Claude Kelly, Shep Crawford, Quincy Jones, and many more.
