BadKat

The time has come for a new era in Hip Hop. A surprising leader has emerged and is sharpening her claws. Femininity and Power now have a common voice. Over the years, BadKat has shared the stage with the likes of KRS One, De La Soul, Aceyalone, K-the-i???, John Robinson, Bahamadia, Dres the Beatnik, Professor Griff, NY Oil, Ishues, Doria Roberts, Rehab, and many more. BadKat first began her journey with Hip Hop in the underground circuit of North Carolina (1994 - 1999). After several years of performing, booking and event planning, BadKat returned to her hometown (Tallahassee, Florida) to pursue her career in media marketing. Writing and recording at night, she grew frustrated over the lack of performance opportunities in Florida’s decaying live music scene. BadKat relocated once again, this time to the music mecca of the South – Athens, Georgia. Within a year BadKat released her first solo project, ‘badkat unreleased.’ Receiving a strong local and regional welcome, BadKat used the momentum to organize several community outreach projects, including: Summer Splash 2006, Hip Hop Homecoming Festival (held annually since 2006), Hip Hop for Social Change (discussion forums), and many events to help foster the musical and writing talents of women and independent artists throughout her three years in the area.
