Love's The Greatest Thing

Love's The Greatest Thing - Richie McDonald

Deadlines and commitments

Five o'clock on Friday

All I'm thinking about is

Everything I have to do

Phone rings and a voice says

Don't forget you promised

The show's at six daddy

I'm counting on you

My work's not done and the traffic's bad

This day's really getting to me

I barely make it as I rush

Inside curtain goes up

And then I see

A pirouette across the stage

A daughter's smile

My troubles fade

I look at her and see the truth

Love's the greatest thing I'll do

Strawberries in season

Don't need another reason

To take the afternoon and

Pick ourselves a basket or two

An hour down the highway

There's a perfect place

Bet there'd be nobody out

There but me and you

Red berries on your sweet lips

I love the way you're looking at me

Like a couple of kids we tumble down

Side by side in this field of green

The sunlight streaks across your face

You still take my breath away

I look at you and see the truth

Love's the greatest thing I'll do

It's really just the simple things

When all is said what my life means

When each and every day is through

Love's the greatest thing

Love's the greatest thing

Love's the greatest thing I'll do
