Guntersville Gazette

Guntersville Gazette - Richie McDonald

Wasn't more than half a mile

Between the city limit signs

The population was cut in half

The day they shut down the mine

Only thing that hasn't changed

The way the gossip spreads

Cindy Lou's nails and hairdo's

And the Guntersville Gazette

When I got home from clearing

First paper I picked up

Found the girl I thought was waiting

Had waited long enough

Right beside her smilin' face

Under brides to be

Said Saturday Miss Mandy

Chase would be Mrs William McGee

You never know from page to page

Whether you will laugh or cry

One page a baby's born

On the next an old friend died

Get advice from Gabby's corner

All of that for just a quarter

I was raised there's three things

You never questioned what they said

Grandpa the gospel

And the Guntersville Gazette

Two lonely concrete islands

Sticking above the ground

Underneath heartbreaking headlines

Humpy's Gas and Tires burned down

Sally just made the honor roll

Tiger finally beat the Jets

Read all about it in the

Guntersville Gazette

You never know from page to page

Whether you will laugh or cry

One page a baby's born

On the next an old friend died

Get advice from Gabby's corner

All of that for just a quarter

I was raised there's three things

You never questioned what they said

Grandpa the gospel

And the Guntersville Gazette

Wise old men a church house

A hand cranked printing press

Grandpa the gospel

And the Guntersville Gazette
