Plector

Genre:Thrash / Death Metal Band Members: Killhelm Drums (2006-2012) Erik Beardmuff Guitars, Vocals (2006-2012) Patrik Wall Bass, Vocals (backing) (2010-2012) Plector was formed back in 2006 by Erik Engbo (guitars and vocals), Vilhelm Norberg (drums) and Björn Algers (bass guitar, backing vocals) and rather swiftly gained positive media coverage as the demo version of “Get Drunk or Die Trying” was aired on Swedish TV-channel TV4, and got a good review from Sony Music A&R and former Swedish Idol jury member Daniel Breitholtz. The video became an instant underground classic. In the following years Plector played wherever they could in Sweden, for example House of Metal festival with Meshuggah, Unleashed, God Among Insects, Ghamorean and Feral. In 2009 their debut album “Dark & Spiteful” was recorded and demos of it was self released. Alongside with the new video for the song “Spiteful Love”, Plector gained international recognition and went on tour in the US. When arriving back in Sweden, they released a video to the track “Alcoholic Refuge” and played various locations in Sweden, headlined Metallergrillen Festival in Germany and went back to tour the US again alongside Turbid North and Vaste Burai. In 2011, “Dark & Spiteful” was officially re-released by Discouraged Records, and Patrik Wall from Apostasy replaced Björn at bass guitar. Since 2010, the band started showing a lack of progress, and due to the financial exhaustion that comes from being an underground band, combined with other priorities, Plector only managed to perform a total of three live shows in Sweden during 2011. For a band that takes pride in their live shows, that’s not sufficient. During the summer of 2012, with “Punishment Day” being finished, the band admitted to themselves that they were slipping apart and found it hard to motivate themselves in the Plector-department. A unanimous decision was made, and with the release of “Punishment Day” at Discouraged Fest in September 2012, Plector visited the stage for the last time. As a band with a strong visual history at Youtube, the event was recorded to be made available for the public in the aftermath of the Festival. The album was released all over Europe in October 31 2012 by Discouraged Records (Moloken, Abandon, This Gift is a Curse, Terrortory etc) and distributed by Sound Pollution (Europe).
