Kinney moved to Malaco in the late '70s, and her cover of King Floyd's "Groove Me" made it into the R&B Top 30, though neither of the LPs Groove Me or Fern sustained her initial momentum. Kinney did land a number one hit in England in 1980, "Together We Are Beautiful."
