Sa’Ra Charismata

Sa’ra Charismata is a Swedish New York City based artist, songwriter and producer. Born and raised in Stockholm, Sa’ra moved to the U.S. as a teen to pursue her musical aspirations and studies. Her years stateside have been formative ones, and the singer has been shaped by her experience of growing up in a big city like New York. Influenced by many artists, she cites Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse as her primary inspirations: they are both very soulful artists with certain grit to her voices that blend uniquely well with hip hop beats as well as neo-soul pop tunes, and there’s something unresolved about them both, which Sa’ra says she can identify with.   “Music has always been an important form of self-expression for me. I have a very vivid imagination and I also tend to carry a lot of pain around with me, and music is my only real outlet.” explains the singer.   Sa'ra is currently back in Stockholm to record and release new music. Since being back in Stockholm she has played at different venues including the Make Music Stockholm festival, Stallet, Musslan, Bar 6071, and Ice Bar. She has also worked closely with Swedish rapper and singer Swingfly. Earlier this summer Sa’ra released the single “Hole” via Spinnup, which was played on P3 Star (Swedish national radio). Sa’ra Charismata recently played a live radio gig at Stockholm Lokal Radio 95.3 and pre-released her single "Gold Digga" on soundcloud the same week.
