Konstantinos Christoforou

Constantinos Christoforou (Greek: Κωνσταντίνος Χριστοφόρου, pronounced [konstaˈndinos xristoˈforu]; born 25 April 1977) is a Cypriot singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Limassol, Cyprus, Christoforou's debut EP Tora Pou Milas (1995) and album O,ti M'afora (1996) were commercial successes in his native country, the latter becoming the first domestic release by a Cypriot artist to be certified triple platinum.[1] He represented Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 with the song "Mono Yia Mas", taking ninth place[2] and began crossing over into the Greek market first as a backing vocalist for other artists. He gained wider fame as the lead singer of Giorgos Theofanous' pop musical project One, the first boy band ever in the Hellenics. The group became popular with young audiences, releasing several successful records and taking sixth place in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 with "Gimme", Cyprus' second best result ever in the contest. Christoforou left One in 2003 to reprise his solo career, returning to his laïko musical roots. He has released five studio albums, I Agapi Sou Paei (2003), Idiotiki Parastasi (2004), O Gyros Tou Kosmou (2005), I Alitheia Einai Mia (2007), and Allios (2009), most of which had some commercial impact in Cyprus but performed moderately in Greece. He represented Cyprus for a third time in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with "Ela Ela (Come Baby)", taking 18th place and attempted to represent again in 2010. His single "Thes Na Kanoume Schesi?" was a commercial success in both countries. Apart from his own music, Christoforou has written songs for other artists, his biggest hit being Anna Vissi's "Erimi Poli" and also participated on the Greek Dancing on Ice in 2011, finishing seventh.
