魔戒三部曲奥斯卡大导彼得杰克森以前所未有、每秒48帧的3D摄影机及杜比全景声系统，打造哈比人三部曲，首部曲「哈比人：意外旅程」一出，革命性的视听效果，果然令奇幻中土世界更加逼真，让观众有如亲临其境！二部曲「哈比人：荒谷恶龙」比尔博巴金斯、巫师甘道夫，和索林橡木盾率领的十三矮人团队继续踏上征途，在骁勇善战之精灵战士的助阵下，正面对决恶龙史矛革！ 格莱美、金球奖、奥斯卡加冕；马丁史柯西斯、大卫柯能堡等大导指名御用，当代最知名电影配乐大师之一的Howard Shore，早确定继续打造哈比人三部曲的音乐，与之前的「魔戒」三部曲连成一气，全盘包办六部魔幻传奇史诗，可说是前无古人，后亦难有来者的影史纪录！Howard Shore此次应制片团队的要求，首次不在海外录制，而改与纽西兰交响乐团(NZSO)合作，在威灵顿市立音乐厅进行录音，乐团还取消了既定的巡演行程，专心投入这张原声大碟。由于本集激烈的动作戏连场，因此除了延续系列特有的神秘氛围外，还不时有高潮迭起、震撼悬疑的长篇精采乐章，磅薄气势更胜首部曲！ 至于导演彼得杰克森最在意的主题曲，则邀请来英国的红发精灵、天才创作新锐艾德雪瑞担纲，双方合作的起缘，其实是因为彼得杰克森的千金是艾德的死忠歌迷，在女儿的推荐下，平日忙碌、无暇关注时下流行的彼得杰克森，才认识到这位当红炸子鸡的音乐，亦惊为天人，于是趁他到纽西兰巡回时提出邀约。正巧艾德雪瑞小时候，父亲夜夜为他朗读的第一本读物就是『哈比人』，祖父更收藏了当年第一版印刷的小说，因此他很快交出词意直白动人、旋律荡气回肠的I See Fire一曲，在电影上映前隆重推出数位单曲，随即空降iTunes全球17个国家Top 40、38个国家打入百大排行榜，并在纽西兰拿下冠军，为「哈比人：荒谷恶龙」打响了第一炮！
