Driven by soul searching vocals, the debut album ‘Reflections’ from Tahuna Breaks showcases the bands unique and energetic sound which has seen them become a popular favourite on dance floors across New Zealand. Driven by elements of soul and reggae (but with an urgent rock attack to it) and with some funk tossed in for good measure, this album just leaps out and grabs you.
Title track ‘Reflections’ – which offers just a hint of drum n’ bass – is easily the stand out track along with the singles ‘Voodoo’, ‘Casually Acquainted’ & ‘Real Life’. Recorded at the renowned York St Studios, the album reached #3 in the independent charts off the back of three years of live shows throughout New Zealand since the bands inception.
The first single ‘Voodoo’ stayed at #1 on the Amplifier and Kiwi FM charts for weeks and ‘Real Life’ received the 2008 Juice TV Best Roots/Electronica Video award.
