Bernard Herrmann，1911年6月29日出生，美国著名电影配乐作曲家；曾在朱利亚音乐学校从师于B·瓦海纳尔，1931至1934年创办新室内乐队并任指挥；1934至1940年任哥伦比亚广播公司音乐总监，1940至1955年任该公司交响乐队首席指挥，1941年因《黑夜煞星》（The Devil and Daniel Webster）一片配乐获得奥斯卡最佳原创音乐奖；1958年他为影片《迷魂记》谱写的配乐，被列入AFI百年百大电影配乐；他配曲的著名影片还有《精神病患者》《简爱》《公民凯恩》《西北偏北》《出租汽车司机》等。
